About Teens in Action
- Teens in Action helps at-risk youth ages 13-18 build character, develop leadership skills, explore academic and vocational options, learn social responsibility, value diversity and avoid substance abuse and criminal activity in the Teens in Action program. Service learning projects connect academic learning, personal growth, and civic responsibility with meaningful community service experiences.
In 2008, teens still too young to vote, implemented a voter registration drive motivating 78 adults to register to vote in the presidential election.
The Teens in Action Program is based on a highly successful program developed by Camp Fire USA. A 2008 outcome evaluation by Camp Fire USA found that nationally 86% of Teens in Action participants reported they had opportunities to apply what they learned in order to lead others. In 2010, 90% of LSC respondents reported that they received the tools they needed to become caring, confident youth and future leaders.
