Formerly
Camp Fire Boys and Girls, "Camp Fire USA" is the new identity of one
of the
nation's premier youth development organization. Even though the name
is new, the purpose
of the organization remains the same:
to serve children.
With
a national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., Camp Fire USA provides
coeducational programming for approximately 700,000 participants annually, as
reported by Camp Fire
councils, through 85 councils in 38 states and the
District of Columbia. As a not-for-profit,
youth development organization,
Camp Fire provides programs that include mentoring
opportunities through
clubs, environmental education through camping, and direct child-care
services. Other innovative activities include an in-school service-learning
curriculum and
programs designed specifically for urban youth and for
teen-agers.
